Jazz Diva's Ode To Africa

Since the 1950's, American jazz musicians have served as cultural ambassadors abroad. The exchange hasn’t just been one-way. After jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater performed in West Africa, she brought back a greater sense of her own African heritage.

Dee Dee Bridgewater's new CD is titled "Red Earth: A Malian Journey."  The Grammy winning vocalist performs at the Mondavi Center, Saturday, October 20th with an 11-member troupe, including singers and instrumentalists from Mali.
