There are more changes in the Sacramento area beer scene.
First American River Brewing in Rancho Cordova suspended operations. Then Rubicon Brewing announced it'll be closing its West Sacramento tap room and midtown brew pub. Now Black Vinyl Ale Project, a restaurant and brewery in Rocklin, is being sold.
Sonya Sorich with the Sacramento Business Journal says the site will reopen next month as Kathrin's Biergarten, a German-themed venue that'll also brew beer.
"This news comes amid some recent closures on the local beer scene," says Sorich. "But those involved in Black Vinyl say the decision to sell the business wasn't based on finances. They say they simply needed a break."
The operators of Black Vinyl have a project in-the-works in midtown Sacramento where they've applied for a licence to manufacture beer.
A new kind of fitness studio may soon be coming to the Galleria shopping center in Roseville. It's called FitCade and it's envisioned as a virtual reality arcade with fitness-focused games.
Sorich says customers would walk in, put on a virtual reality headset and play games...like virtual boxing.
"This is basically an immersive experience that essentially forces you to move your body in order to play the game correctly," says Sorich. "This debut location would be relatively small with about four gaming stations."
A husband-and-wife team from Marysville have started an online crowd-funding campaign to raise $32,000 for the business.
