Of the $4.8 million in one-time General Fund budgetary resources, $3.7 million will be spent on children's programs and other city services.

The council approved a city expenditure of $750,000/ year for the next five years to help fund Sacramento County's Steering Committee on the Reduction of African American Child Deaths.

Money was also allocated to address shortfalls in the 4th R and START education programs' budgets that were caused by increased labor costs.

The council voted to spend $50,000 to clean up gasoline and chlorinated solvents at the Meadowview Community Center, $100,000 for the Summer Night Lights program, and $300,000 for a new electrical testing and safety program.

About a million dollars will be held in reserve.
