Original story - 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 - The Tesla Fire burning between Livermore and Tracy has scorched about 2,500 acres and is at 60 percent containment.
"We have containment lines all the way around the fires," says Brandon Leitzke with Cal Fire. "Crews have been working for 48 hours mopping up and putting out hot spots."
The brush and grass fire is moving across private ranch land, but it's not currently threatening any homes or communities.
"Typically your grass and brush fires burn very very fast," says Leitzke. "The control measures are a little more effective -- retardant drops from the air craft, dozer lines, hand lines."
Several firefighters from the Jerusalem Fire in Lake and Napa Counties were shifted to fight the Tesla Fire now that the Jerusalem Fire is almost 100 percent contained.
"Some of them have come off other fires throughout California," Leitzke says. "Especially in the northern part, local areas, but they've all been rested before they came out."
Cal Fire expects to increase containment at the Tesla Fire from by the end of Friday.
