Johnson spoke at the Downtown Sacramento Partnership's annual "State of Downtown Breakfast" at Memorial Auditorium yesterday. Mark Rowland of the online retailer Zappos was the keynote speaker. He talked about the company spending $350 million in tech start ups, small business, and the arts in downtown Las Vegas.

"We used to be so over-reliant on government jobs and the real estate industry and we've gotta diversify."

This was the 17th year for the Downtown Partnership's State of Downtown event.

"What the Downtown Project has done, many many people have written many articles saying it is insane. But, everything, everything starts off like that. The focus that we have is very much a long-term focus."
