There are new charges against indicted California state Sen. Leland Yee (D-San Francisco).

Yee now faces racketeering and conspiracy charges. He pled “not guilty” to bribery and corruption charges in March.

Friday’s superseding indictment” describes a meeting between Yee and an undercover FBI agent last year.

Allegedly, Yee told the agent about a bill in the legislature that would limit professional athletes’ workers compensation claims in California, and he suggested that the agent tell a National Football League owner to get in touch with Yee and offer to help.

According to the affidavit, the agent asked Yee how much his vote would cost, and Yee replied: “Oh no … we gotta drag it out, man. We gotta juice this thing.”

The state Senate suspended Yee after he was first indicted in March, but the senator is still being paid. He’s termed out in December.
