Insecticide Spraying Planned For Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, Orangevale

Aerial spraying of insecticide is planned for Wednesday and Thursday night in parts of Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks and Orangevale.

The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District says the spraying is necessary due to "intense" West Nile virus activity. It's intended to kill adult mosquitoes, which spread the virus.

The area to be sprayed includes nearly 19-thousand acres. It runs from the Sacramento county line in the north down to Lincoln Avenue in the south, and from I-80 and Garfield in the West to Hazel Avenue in the east.
