Ozone and particulate matter for the past couple of days has been healthy or moderately healthy in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado counties.

“The inversion because it’s so hot has been breaking every day. That increases vertical mixing and keeps pollution levels low,” says Jamie Arno of the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District.

She says a light breeze has helped keep the air clean. But Arno says the forecast suggests the region may be in store for more polluted air through Thursday.

“We probably will creep into that unhealthy for sensitive groups category. That means that children, the elderly and anyone with any sort of respiratory condition like asthma or bronchitis will want to limit their outdoor exposure for the next couple of days.” says Arno.
