Sacramento County Sheriffs deputies searched a Southwest flight at the Sacramento International Airport today. A flight attendant found a bullet on the floor of the plane during a stopover from San Diego to Portland, Oregon.
Sergeant William Bayless says ten people were on the plane at the time, "Those customers were asked to disembark and go back through checkpoint screening. We brought on k-9 units to search the aircraft. The aircraft checked clear."
Bayless says it's not uncommon for ammunition or even an occasional firearm to be discovered at the security checkpoint, but it's rare to find either on a plane.
It is illegal to carry ammunition aboard an aircraft. No arrests were made.
The airport says the plane continued on to Portland after a half-hour delay.
