The City of Sacramento is considering a name change for what's now known as the Sacramento Valley Station at the corner of 5th and I Streets. The City's Maurice Chaney says people can give feedback on a website the City just launched called envisionsacramento.com, "We're embarking on the redevelopment of the Railyards site which houses a major transportation hub. And so we want to get input on how people refer to it today and if they have any thoughts or ideas on -if we were to go through a process of renaming the station- what would it be?"
Envisionsacramento.com already has half a dozen topics for
people to consider. Chaney says the questions will cover
everything from the economy to parks, "A lot of time when these
types of websites are launched, they're really focused on planning
and development whereas envisionsacramento.com -much like some
other communities like San Francisco are asking everything on civic
issues that relate to City business."
Chaney says the new website will help the City in its community outreach efforts.
The City is paying $17,000 to a company called MindMixer to launch and monitor the site. The company has launched similar sites for the cities of Folsom, Elk Grove and San Jose.
