Calif. GOP Lawmakers: Find Other Trigger Cuts if Prop 30 Fails

Assembly Minority Leader Connie Conway says the elimination of up to three weeks of school would be "devastating" - and if Prop 30 doesn't pass, both parties should work together to find alternatives.

Conway: "I'm not saying it's gonna be easy.  But that's our job.  And that's what people expect us to do.  So we need to do some soul-searching and look around and figure out what we can do."

Asked what cuts the GOP would support instead, Conway said Republicans proposed a budget earlier this year without new taxes or cuts to education.

Conway: "I don't want to pinpoint what I would do at this point until I see if I have to.  But I think everything should be on the table."

Governor Jerry Brown has insisted he would veto any effort to overturn the trigger cuts.  He says California must balance its budget - with taxes or without.
