Amber Stott is facing about 20 kids at Capitol Heights Academy in Oak Park. Adult volunteers chop squash and apples. But it's not just a cooking class. It's food literacy.
"Food literacy we define as understanding the impact of your food choices on your health, on the community and on the planet," says Stott.
"Last week in class we tasted peaches and plums and 10% of the kids had never tasted a plum before."
