RT cut such service two years ago. But, Mike Wiley
with RT says the district's efforts to improve efficiency have paid
off with the extended hours and more routes, "We're adding new
services to Citrus Heights and to South Sacramento. We're
adding Saturday service into both South and North Natomas."
Wiley says the recession hurt in the beginning, but, RT
reduced operating costs, and was able to create a reserve of
more than $5 million while moving forward on several
projects.
Construction has started on a parking garage and on two
bridges that are part of the Cosumnes River College light rail
extension.
The new hours mean riders will be able to take light rail or
buses up to 12:30 a.m. The changes start this Sunday.
