Gail Pellerin is the County Clerk in Santa Cruz. She says her office is busy.
PELLERIN: "We're finishing up most of our vote-by mail, we're researching provisional ballots, and doing the audit of each polling site -basically confirming how many ballots they got and how many were un-voted, doing the recount of the touch screen votes, doing the audit of all the voting equipment. We're hand-tallying all of the certified, qualified write-in votes."
The deadline to process the recent election is July 3rd.
But, county clerks have another deadline coming up before then. June 28th is the day they have to certify signatures for ballot measures to qualify for the November election.
Pellerin is also the President of the California Association of Clerks and Election officials.
