The California Citizens Compensation Commission voted 5 to 1 on Thursday to reduce the salaries of state elected officials.
The move for the five percent cut comes after the Governor proposed cutting state worker compensation by five percent.
Commissioner Scott David Somers supported the salary reduction but did so reluctantly.
SOMERS: "The constitutional officers and the legislators are doing their job by reducing costs and shouldn't be penalized for it, indeed we certainly don't want to incent elected officials to only raise taxes or their pay will be cut."
