The Mayor met Friday afternoon with George Maloof -the family's negotiator in financial dealings at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.
The Mayor's office called the meeting "productive" though the "core principles" of the financial plan behind a $391 million arena deal for downtown Sacramento were not discussed.
A spokesman for the Maloofs called the tone of the meeting, "cordial" and said the Mayor had requested the two sides talk.
Both men have agreed to talk again early next week.
The Mayor flew down after he gave NBA Hall-of-Famer, and former Cincinatti Royal, Oscar Robertson a key to the city Friday morning. The ceremony had originally been scheduled for Friday night.
