St. Hope Public School 7 in Sacramento has been named "School of the Year" by the California Charter Schools Association.
Gladys Mitchell is a parent of three daughters who are going through the St. Hope system. She accepted the award on the school's behalf at the Association's annual conference in Sacramento. Mitchell says the school's extra hours and focus on parental involvement are keys to success.
MITCHELL: "People have to be educated. It's not an easy ride. You do have to work hard. But the results -if someone can see this is what the end result is, you know, I think you get a little bit more buy-in."
