Not that anyone is looking for it, but this year's flu season has been missing. And the experts don't really know why.
Doctor Robert Schechter is with the California Department of Public Health. He doesn't believe there's much to the notion that warm weather prevents an onset of the flu.
But, he does hope an increase in vaccinations has something to do with the flu being late to arrive.
SCHECHTER: "The jury is out. We'll know better in May or June in July at the end of all this how bad the season actually got and whether we can credit higher rates of immunization for any improvement."
Schechter says in the last couple of weeks, ten percent of tests for suspected influenza have come back positive. He says that is the bare minimum for the Department to say the flu is in California.
So, it's here. It's just hard to find.
