Marissa Juhler with Yolo County says the county's landfill is taking trees, and e-waste, like toasters and computers for free. The county is also encouraging people to pick up what others have tossed on the side of the road.
JUHLER: "If you picked up a television on the side of the road or and old refrigerator or Christmas tree and brought it, we would allow you to dispose of that waste free of charge and you'd also get a coupon to dispose of your own waste free of charge."
Sacramento County has expanded its tree dropoff locations to include the SMUD Corporation Yard and Folsom City Park. The Elder Creek and Fruitridge locations are accepting trees now.
