The new documentary is called "Revenge of the Electric Car." This time it's a
comeback story, with cars like the Chevy Volt portrayed as part of
a revolution in the automotive industry. The film's producer is
Sacramento native Jessie Deeter. Deeter and her crew traveled the
world for the project, filming in countries like Japan and Israel.
But she describes "Revenge of the Electric Car" as very much a
California story. And at the center of the tale, Tesla Automotive's
CEO Elon Musk.
(DEETER): "He is the perfect, perfect character to get
Americans to understand some of the challenges of getting
electric cars to market and getting them deployed in real
numbers."
The documentary also profiles more traditional players,
like Carlos Ghosn, the CEO of Nissan, who has put a lot of his
company's chips behind the Leaf. The documentary opens
in Sacramento next Friday.
