With a series of whistles and horns supplied by guests and a nearby train… a crane moved the first piece of railroad track to its new home 500 feet north of the existing tracks.
It is the next step in the region's intermodal project. Once the tracks are moved, building can be begin for the new transit center. Congresswoman Doris Matsui helped secure 35 million dollars in federal funding.

The two large concrete structures already in place on
the southeast side of the Railyards property are the bridges that
will go over the new tracks. The tracks should be completed
in the spring of 2013.
