Sacramento needs to cut about 40 million dollars out of its general fund expenditures in the next fiscal year. That's about a 20 percent reduction in spending.
If you live in Sacramento, city officials are asking you to help prioritize cuts and weigh the possibility of new taxes.
Maurice Chaney is with the city. He says you can provide your ideas on budget cuts by attending an open house tomorrow morning or by filling out an online survey.
"And what will happen is that once the answers are collected we'll be presenting that information to the city council as part of the budget hearing process."
