The Sacramento region had 21,400 online jobs posted last month, that’s a 5 percent increase compared to December. Now, the 1,000-job postings gain for the past month is far from a turnaround, but the 13 percent increase from a year ago shows positive signs for the region.
But if you are job-hunting it’s still a brutal market. The Conference Board estimates there are about six job-seekers for every open position in the Sacramento region, with clerical, sales and health care positions in the greatest demand.
Despite the online-job postings, considered the best way to track future hiring, there are an estimated 125,000 people looking for work in the Sacramento region. And just because a job is posted, doesn’t guarantee the employer will hire for the position.
