A Sacramento county judge has tentatively blocked Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson’s strong mayor initiative from the June ballot.

The judge ruled the initiative process cannot be used to offer major revisions to the City Charter – only for more narrow amendments.
Backers say they’ll try to reverse the tentative ruling at a hearing tomorrow, and appeal if necessary.
