Company spokesman Don Pattalock says the solar farm would not only produce a hundred megawatts of electricity…it would also create lots of jobs.
“There are several local companies that have already expressed interest in bidding to construct the project. So it’s open to bids. We’re a long way from having a scope and ready to go out. But we live here, we’re heavily invested in this community and we’d love to see it happen.”
Vidler bought the land 10 years ago for its water rights and built a pipeline to the north valleys outside Reno for development. But when the housing market collapsed, so did interest from developers in buying those water rights.
The project must still be reviewed by the Regional Planning Commission.
