Summary
Capital Public Radio is looking for a seasoned reporter to cover environmental and related issues around California, within CPR's broadcast region and at the state Capitol. He or she will make environmental issues relatable to listeners through broadcast and online reporting. Environmental topic areas include: climate change, public health, energy, natural resources, the economy and the impact of national issues and policies in California and how California shapes national environmental policy.
Duties
Job responsibilities include creation of timely, in-depth, high-quality environmental journalism, regular production of features stories, newsmaker interviews, newscast spots & super spots and creation of content for digital media platforms including social media sites. Regular appearances on CPR's daily talk show as well as other station and network talk shows and news programs.
Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of environment and energy issues. Knowledge of California a plus. Advanced reporting abilities. Bachelor's degree in journalism or in a related field, or equivalent work experience for at least 7 years. Public radio experience preferred. Windows operating system, Microsoft Office and audio editing software, such as Adobe Audition or Pro Tools. Digital platform and social media experience a plus.
