Joseph Yeshewas is a fourth year student at the University of California, Riverside where he is majoring in Economics. Yeshewas spent the early part of his summer as a student of the University of California Center Sacramento Journalism Program. As a UCCS student, he enrolled in an intensive two-week reporter's boot camp taught by UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism where he was given daily assignments to report on issues inside the capital. Yeshewas was able to meet former and current news editors and participated in journalism ethics training which helped sharpen his reporting skills. Yeshewas then chose Capital Public Radio for his summer internship: "I've had experience with print journalism before, and I enjoyed it. But using sound to report gives a story so much more life. I felt I would enjoy helping to produce something like that." Yeshewas assisted the station's documentary unit, building an online database, researching pop cultural references to school lunches and assisting with field recording trips. Although his career goals are not quite set, Yeshewas is interested in sports and perhaps working for a sports radio station.
