Bill Lockyer Retiring from Politics It’s rare to find someone who’s held elective office in California longer than current Governor Jerry Brown, but California State Treasurer Bill Lockyer has nearly half a decade of experience on Brown with 45 years in state office. Lockyer started serving the state in 1968 and announced this week that he’ll be retiring at the end of his current term in two years. Lockyer joins us to reflect on his near half-century in California office and explain why now is the time to step down.

Rebuilding McKinley Park Out of the ashes of fire, McKinley Park’s playground in East Sacramento is rising again. An arson fire last summer devastated the popular neighborhood playground and now – after a year of donations and planning - kids and volunteers are picking up tools and rebuilding. Parks Commissioner Jeff Harris is leading the "Rebuild McKinley Park" volunteer effort and joins us to explain the plans for the playground and ways you can help with construction. We'll also talk with 10-year-old volunteer Jacob Pluckebaum and Councilman Steve Cohn.
