Immigration Reform - President Obama plans to lay out his administration's own proposals for immigration reform that are supposedly more liberal than a separate bipartisan effort in the Senate, according to the Washington Post. The proposal could include a quicker path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. Immigration is a huge issue across the country. How would reform impact California and its citizens? We'll talk about it with Kevin R. Johnson, Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis School of Law.

Light Opera Theatre's "Into the Woods" - Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento was founded in 1982 by Mike and Debbie Baad with an intent to bring the works of Gilbert and Sullivan to the Sacramento area.  More than 30 years later, their children and son-in-law have taken the reigns of the company.  Katie and Philip Daley and Chris Baad have strived to remain true to the company's mission while bringing in fresh talent, expanding the company's repertoire and increasing the accessibility of a fairly niche genre.  Their production of "Into the Woods" - the first non Gilbert & Sullivan show they've produced in 20 years - opens Feb. 1st at the 24th St. Theatre in Sacramento. 

 

 

"An Hour with John Pizzarelli" Preview - John Pizzarelli is a jazz giant at the top of his game in the musical world.  In a rare interview, he spoke with Capital Public Radio's Jazz Music Director Gary Vercelli about his 32 years of work as a professional musician, recounting the influences of Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney, George Shearing, Benny Goodman, and his prolific father. Gary has produced a one-hour radio special from the interview, including excerpts from the conversation and some of the pivotal music in Pizzarelli's career.  "An Hour with John Pizzarelli" airs Wednesday on Capital Public Radio's music station.
