Inauguration On the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, President Barack Obama celebrated his second inauguration as President of the United States, with about a million Americans cheering, praying, and waving flags in Washington D.C.  Quoting the Declaration of Independence, he spoke the words: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."  There to witness it all first-hand were nine "very excited" Sierra College students, who have been planning and fundraising for the Washington D.C. trip for months.  Two of them join us by phone to share their experience.

 

Kings Update News of a finalized deal to sell the Sacramento Kings basketball team to an investment group in Seattle who would relocate the team there, emerged during the holiday weekend. The NBA confirmed it had seen the deal, but Mayor Johnson and others in Sacramento say it's not completely over. They're still working on a counter offer to present to the NBA Board of Directors in March. What's going on? And does Sacramento seriously have a shot.

 

Livestrong Follow Up America's once-heralded cycling champion Lance Armstrong finally admitted that doping helped him win the Tour de France.  Armstrong came clean in a two-part interview with Oprah Winfrey last week, opening the door to a doping investigation that could upend the professional cycling world.    

 

News Network: Davis Residents of the City of Davis are preparing to cast votes in the coming weeks on the best way to secure the city's future water supply.  Many Davis residents say they are still coping with a parcel tax taking effect in January and won't be able to afford the multimillion-dollar project.  Proponents of Measure I say waiting to secure the city's future water supply will be even more costly.   Davis Enterprise Reporter Jeff Hudson joins us to discuss this and other issues in this week's News Network.  

 

Mindflowers Listen to the music of Sacramento band MindFlowers and you'll be reminded of the psychedelic sound that pervaded the late 1960's.  The group draws influence from the era but puts a modern twist on the airy music that fueled the time of social revolution and mind expansion.   MindFlowers is currently preparing to release its first EP and will be performing this Wednesday at Bows and Arrows in Sacramento.
