California voters have put forth a clear winner in one of the two State Senate special elections yesterday. In San Diego, Democratic Asm. Ben Hueso picked up more than 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff.

The other seat in the Inland Empire will move to a runoff between Democratic Assemblywoman Norma Torres and Republican Paul Leon, who's the mayor of Ontario.

Hueso's win restores the Democrats' supermajority in the State Senate, which they lost last month after the surprise resignation of Bakersfield Senator Michael Rubio.
