Burkle and Mastrov Teaming Up To Make Kings Bid
Monday, January 28, 2013
Multi-millionaire Mark Mastrov and billionaire Ron Burkle are working together to buy a controlling interest in the Sacramento Kings. Mastrov spoke with a partnership of Sacramento-area investors Monday morning. Larry Kelley with McClellan Business Park says he's impressed with Mastrov. "I think Mr. Mastrov has a relationship with the NBA. He tried to buy the Warriors before. He knows the players at the NBA. My sense is he would be an excellent owner and wants to create a championship team, which I think would just be fabulous for our region."
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson said last week as many as four people with the ability to be a major equity partners have expressed interest in bidding for the team.
Monday's meeting is the first meeting between any prospective major equity partner and the local ownership group the Mayor put together last week.
