Scully guided her office through huge budget cuts in the past six years. She plans to re-instate her investigation, crime lab, and community problem solving programs before she leaves.
She's also started a leadership team with a goal of creating a family justice resource center, "The goal is to bring services together collaboratively and work hand in hand. We make it easier on victims to stay out of dangerous situations that put themselves and their families at risk
Scully says 34 years in one place -twenty as D.A.- will be long enough. She says it's time to be a little bit selfish, "I love to read, play the piano, guitar -things that I've just neglected for all these years that give me a source of comfort and satisfaction, and spend more time with my family. My children are grown now and they're not living here, so I'll have a chance to visit them a little bit more."
