Democratic Assemblymember Holly Mitchell says major health policy decisions have been made in the past two state-budgets.

They include moving nearly 900,000 kids from Healthy Families into the Medi-Cal program, shrinking an adult day health care benefit, and moving seniors and disabled people into managed care.

MITCHELL: "We have a lot of work to do around oversight, over actions we've taken these last couple of years, to really make sure that the life, health and integrity of Californians aren't compromised in our effort to balance an unbalance-able budget."

Assembly Health Committee Chair Dr. Richard Pan says he wants to ensure the Medi-Cal changes don't interfere with health access or quality of care for the vulnerable population.

The California Department of Health Care Services says it's thoughtfully planned for slow transitions, and it's making sure health plans are ready to provide care for people.
