A former aide to Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson has been arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail. Lisa Serna-Mayorga is charged with grand theft, forgery and writing bad checks.

The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office has charged Lisa Serna-Mayorga with misappropriation of $19,000 in public funds, grand theft, forgery and writing bad checks.  The complaint says Serna-Mayorga paid for two Disneyland trips, hotel stays in Monterey and Bodega Bay and nearly 1100 Apple iTunes applications using a city credit card.

She's also charged with forging the signature of the Mayor's former chief of staff, Kunal Merchant on at least ten monthly purchasing statements.

The complaint says once the expenditures were discovered in an internal audit, she wrote two bad checks totaling $9,000 under the guise of covering the expenses even though she knew she didn't have the funds available.

She faces almost seven years in state prison if convicted.  She is the daughter of a former Sacramento Mayor, the late Joe Serna, and she is the sister of current Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna.
