The high snow levels during the week-end storms had people in Reno and Sparks filling sandbags, expecting flooding on the Truckee River. But the flooding never came.

The cities of Reno and Sparks declared a state of emergency on Friday, but the weather made that declaration unncessary.

Chris Smith is the head of Emergency Management for the State of Nevada, "The cold front came in and dropped the snow line down substantially lower and the river levels are not anticipated to climb as greatly as they were initially forecast."

Smith says some rural areas north and east of the Reno Sparks may have escaped flood damage...but the winds were destructive, "Down around Hawthorne and Mineral County, Nevada they received wind gusts upwards of 80 miles an hour on the valley floors and the same at Pyramid Lake.  They have sustained some damage to some infrastructure."

Smith says county and state officials will visit damaged areas starting Monday, to assess the losses and begin the process of rebuilding.
