Seniors might want to buy a lifetime pass to national parks soon.
People 62 years or older can buy the “America the Beautiful – National Parks and Recreational Lands Senior Pass” now for $10 to get entry into any national park or federal recreational area. Next month the price jumps to $80, a 700 percent increase
Yosemite National Park Ranger Jamie Richards said the price jump will take effect August 28.
"You can purchase them at any of our entry stations when you come up to the national park, provide you ID that shows your birthday, and $10 dollars, and we can take care of you,” Richards said.
Richards said you can also buy them online or by phone but it’s an extra $10 and delays of up to several months are expected.
She said all senior passes will still be valid.
“Whether you bought it 20 years ago or if you go and buy one today, those passes will be honored for the lifetime of the card holder,” Richards said.
