Cal-Trans says night time construction is scheduled for I-5 from just south of Pocket Road to north of Laguna Boulevard, near Elk Grove.
Dennis Keaton with Cal-Trans says crews will be installing heavy concrete barriers as part of the $82.5 million Cosumnes River Boulevard Extension and Interstate Five Interchange Project.
"The big problem is is that since they're going to be working on an actual interchange they've got a lot of heavy equipment to go in and out of the work zone which includes moving a crane. So that's what's really going to be cumbersome in trying to get the job done within a nine to ten hour period."
Keaton is urging people to use Highway 99 as an alternative route. Meanwhile, Cal-Trans already has roadside message boards up warning of the delays.
