The strongest of this week's drenching storms has moved ashore in Northern California, raising the risk of flooding and mudslides in the region of already soggy hillsides and swollen rivers.
The National Weather Service says widespread moderate to heavy rain will return to the region Thursday through Friday, tapering to mountain snow showers. High river and stream flows will likely continue for the next couple of days.
A flood warning is in effect for the Sacramento region through Saturday morning. A wind advisory is also in place until 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon with gusts as high as 25 miles per hour.
