Capital Public Radio's Sally Schilling talked to voters in Davis all day. While many of them told her they saw this presidential election as the most important one of their lifetime, local measures also got their attention- including one for a school parcel tax.
"Davis is a town that really prides itself on a strong K-12 education system so I wasn't that surprised to hear from a lot of people that they supported Measure H," says Schilling. "Even people that don't have kids in the system right now, they some of them seemed pretty willing to invest in the next generation.
With 17 propositions on the ballot, plus local races and measures, Schilling says she found some interesting ways voters were using to keep their decisions straight when they got to their polling place.
"One gentleman had written some notes for himself on his cell phone and come to find out at the polling place that he could not take his cell phone up to the poll with him," says Schilling. "So he could not have his little cheat sheet with him when he cast his ballot today."
