Construction crews have broken ground for an apartment complex near the West Sacramento river walk.
The first phase of the Capitol Yards project calls for 272 apartments to be rented at market rate. The complex is a block away from the Ziggurat Building, Raley Field, and the Tower Bridge.
The developer The Wolff Company says the clubhouse will allow residents to “be alone together” or telecommute from a common area.
“Instead of sitting in their apartment and doing their work, they like to go to places where they can participate online and what they need to get done during the day but also there’s people nearby,” says the Wolff Company's Don Nethercott.
Jeff Savage with the Sacramento River Cats says he’s happy to have new neighbors.
”We always had visions of development happening around us," he says. "That was part of the plan. It did take longer than we thought, but these things aren’t…they don’t happen overnight.”
This is the first phase of the apartment complex and will likely be finished by the end of next year.
