A Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy was hit by a car last night while making an arrest.
The deputy, who has been with the department for 18 years, was taken to a hospital and is recovering from non-life threatening wounds.
The Sheriff's Department says a little after 9 o'clock last night, deputies responded to a family disturbance call in the block of 8200 Wildfire Lane in South Sacramento.
The caller said a 24-year-old male suspect had a knife and was trying to stab family members.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect ran away.
He was then caught by deputies on Gerber Road and Wilbur Lane.
While escorting the suspect back towards the patrol car, a vehicle traveling westbound on Gerber struck the deputy.
The 53-year-old male driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
