UPDATE Sept. 14, 8:27 a.m.: The Old Fire in Mariposa County is now 100 acres and is 25 percent contained.
UPDATE 7 p.m.: The fire burning in Mariposa County is at 75 acres and is zero percent contained.
Officials say there area five structures threatened, but the blaze is currently moving away from them.
Original Post: The U.S Forest Service is fighting a small forest fire in Mariposa County that is burning in the middle of an area of trees killed by beetles.
Clare Long is with the forest service.
"It's in an area that's very we have moderate spotting as well as some torching in the trees. So, we are trying to get on this as fast as we can."
The fire is creating lots of smoke, making it difficult to estimate acerage at this time.
