Transgender Sports Rules Governor Jerry Brown signed a contentious bill Monday that will allow California students to choose the restroom, locker room or sports team that best matches their gender identity. The bill was designed to promote the equality of transgender students but it is unclear how the new policy will affect non-transgender students, both in locker rooms and in head-to-head sports based on the biological abilities of sexes, not gender identity.

News Network Former UC Davis police lieutenant John Pike filed a worker's compensation claim last month, saying he had sustained psychiatric injury after using pepper spray on Occupy UC Davis protestors in November 2011. His hearing was originally scheduled for today, but it has since been taken out of court. Reporter Cory Golden from The Davis Enterprise joins us for this week's News Network to explain the situation. Plus, The Sacramento Bee's reporter Ryan Lillis has more arena news. He'll give us the details on a significant donation to an anti-arena ballot measure that came from the law firm that represents the Maloofs.
