(AP) — Fishermen are cheering the news that a popularRiverside County reservoir will reopen to private boats more than a year after it was closed because of low water levels.
The Press-Enterprise newspaper reports the boat launch at Diamond Valley Lake will reopen Wednesday.
The newspaper says the massive drinking water reservoir near Hemet is at 42 percent capacity.
It was closed to private boats in April 2015 when the water level dropped below the edge of the launch ramp as California's drought persisted. Only small rental boats, which could be tied to the pier, were allowed in the man-made lake.
Megan Merchant, who owns a nearby bait and tackle shop, calls the reopening "great news."
