UPDATE: (AP) - Southern California authorities say a toddler and his mother are safe after the boy's father fought with her and took off with the woman and the boy in his car.
An Amber Alert was canceled after about an hour late Monday when 22-year-old Sabrina Sanchez and her 18-month-old son were found with the car in West Covina.
Police are searching Tuesday for the father, Luis Alvalos.
Los Angeles Police Officer Mike Lopez says Alvalos was dropping Sanchez and the boy off at Sanchez's home in South LA, when the adults began arguing. Lopez says Alvalos allegedly punched the woman and forced her and their son back into the car and drove off.
City News Service reports Alvalos is on probation for domestic violence and had a restraining order against him that was supposed to protect Sanchez and the child.
