UPDATE 3:04 p.m.: The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for both South central Shasta and Northeastern Tehama counties.
UPDATE 9:11 a.m.: Forecasters say there is a fair chance for strong thunderstorms in the Sacramento region Wednesday afternoon.
These storms may cause isolated, weak tornadoes, small hail and heavy rain, along with gusty winds.
Snow will continue to be heavy at times in the Sierra and motorists are being warned of hazardous travel conditions.
The unsettled weather pattern continues for the next three days.
Original Post: More wet weather is expected in the Sacramento region as a quick-moving storm moves through Wednesday.
The storm will also bring moderate snow accumulations near pass levels and may lead to delays and chain control requirements for motorists.
Southerly winds are also expected to increase Wednesday and may cause downed trees.
The unsettled weather pattern continues through the weekend with additional systems coming in Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In the Lake Tahoe area, a winter weather advisory remains in effect until Wednesday evening. About two to four inches of snow is expected at Truckee and Lake Tahoe and four to 10 inches in higher elevations.
Snow levels will likely drop to below 5,500 feet Wednesday afternoon.
