Authorities arrested a 14-year-old boy who they believe is responsible for a bomb threat near Creekview Ranch School in Placer County.
The Placer County Sheriff's Office said a woman who lives near the school received several calls from "a youthful-sounding male" at about 8 a.m. Tuesday. The boy told her that he was going to bomb her house and the school, deputies said. The caller also indicated he knew the woman's address and made references to "jihad" and 9/11."
The woman, who has a family member at the school, reported the calls to authorities. Children at Creekview Ranch, which is a K-8 school, were immediately evacuated. Deputies conducted a search, but did not locate anything suspicious.
Deputies said they were able to locate the suspected caller, who is a student at the school. According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office, the boy told deputies he found the woman's phone number on the ground and decided to prank call her.
The boy, who is an Antelope resident, was placed under arrest and is being charged with making criminal threats, causing a disturbance on school grounds and making a false report of a bomb.
The student was transported to the Placer County Juvenile Hall in Auburn.
