(AP) The leaders of two unions that represent BART’s train drivers, mechanics, station agents and maintenance workers announced the results of the vote today.

The strike authorization doesn’t make a walk out inevitable.

The current contract expires on Sunday, and the unions say they have no plans to call for a strike.

The unions are fighting management efforts to have workers contribute to pensions, pay more for health insurance, and help reduce overtime expenses.
