News Network A group of transportation officials broke the news to California lawmakers Monday that the new span of the Bay Bridge won’t be ready to open the Tuesday after Labor Day, as scheduled. Female Sterilization in Prison A new report from the Center for Investigative Reporting found that doctors under contract with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation performed tubal ligations on at least 148 female prisoners between 2006 and 2010. We’ll talk with Corey Johnson, Money and Politics Reporter for CIR, about this story and what else he’s learned about surgical sterilizations in the California prison system.

Sacramento Travel Guide Christopher Arns is a prolific Sacramento journalist whose resume includes the "Sacramento Business Journal" and "Sacramento News and Review," but his most recent accomplishment is the guidebook "Moon Sacramento and the Gold Country." Released on May 21, "Moon Sacramento" is the first guidebook exclusive to Sacramento released by a major publisher. Arns joins us in studio today to discuss his new book, the increasing importance of Sacramento as a tourist destination and the best local places to visit this summer.

Musical Charis Sacramento band Musical Charis is a cornerstone of the city’s indie music scene and it’s set to release its fifth album July 18. The 23 songs on the new album "Cherish the Charis" are a culmination of the past five years of the band, mixed with new songs and some of the group’s favorite covers. Musical Charis is performing a CD release show at Harlow’s July 18 and joins us in our studio to perform a song from the new album.
